The Living Lab Leading Innovation in Sustainable Housing 

Our research facility at Tŷ Gwyrddfai plays a key role in shaping the future of low carbon homes and sustainable communities. By developing and testing new technologies and materials, we are very supportive of the transition to more energy efficient housing across Wales. 

In partnership with Bangor University, we combine academic expertise with experience. 

This allows us to: 

• Experimenting with New construction methods 
• Piloting innovative materials 
• Testing low carbon technologies in a controlled atmosphere. 

A Hub for Collaboration

The facility is a space where local contractors, SMEs, manufacturers, and research partners can work together. By collaborating on real projects, we speed up the development of practical solutions that can be used across the housing sector.

Designed to mimic real‑life conditions, the facility allows detailed testing of both internal and external products. This includes joint research between Adra Housing and Bangor University, as well as commercial testing for external organisations.
